Alex Piers is the founder and manager of npm, a label established with the intention of presenting a broad spectrum of underground electronic music without being confined to a single sound. Drawn equally to house, techno, ambient and experimental music, he created the label as a platform for artists whose work sits outside predictable genre boundaries.

As a DJ, Piers has spent years exploring the space between house and techno, favouring long-form, patient sets that balance rhythm with atmosphere. His selections move freely between driving club music and more introspective moments, reflecting the same open approach that defines npm's catalogue.

Alongside his work as a DJ, Alex produces under his own name. His ambient composition Soa, released on npm, saw all proceeds donated to a Ukrainian humanitarian charity and was later featured as part of LOEWE's Spring/Summer 2023 Men's runway collection, introducing his music to an audience beyond the club.

Away from the label, Alex has worked extensively in broadcast audio at BBC Radio 6 Music.
